The Rear Endcap 3/18

Happy Day After St. Patty’s!  I tried to find some green clearance and I wasn’t too successful, so let’s just remember that green can refer to money.

Have you been to Value City Furniture in the last few years?  Honestly, they are not the slop shop they were in the 90′s.  Look at this chair, for instance.  Bigger, better and even cheaper than Target!  The Hollywood Black & White Accent Chair is  $129 from $249.

My kids, like many today, love the fabric handbags from Vera Bradley.  My oldest carries her books everyday in this.  It was a gift from her BFF.  And my younger HAD to HAVE this one for her 11th birthday last summer.  Don’t tell her the lamp (with shade in the same fabric) is on sale–or even exists–because I will never hear the end of it.  It’s available at Shades of Light for $69 marked down from $125.

I still haven’t tried Flor carpet tiles, but I want to.  They can get expensive.  The prettiest shades of Solid Ground (Palm, Seafoam and Mist) are marked down from $14.99 to $11.99 each.  Is it time to try them?  Because I do  love this color combination.

Seize the Days are back at Ikea!  This Saturday head over for Droppar Jars.  Neaten your Kitchen for only 99 cents each!

Not Completely Graphic

From WestElm comes our Steal of the Week. The Walton Headboard in the White Queen is just $149.99 from $429.  Don’t let the white scare you. We can do a lot with it.

Add a pair of Ming Chow Nightstands from Pier 1, now $69.98 from $169.  The painted wood with its brown and blue tones look wonderful next to the pure white of the headboard.

The Trinket Rug combines the colors in the Asia side table with the graphic element of the bed. Home Decorators Collection lists this in their outlet for $119 from $399 for the perfect-for-a-bedroom 5 X 8.

The Chocolate Brown Border Duvet Set From Dwell Studio for Target is on clearance for $59.99.  Notice the price doesn’t end in .04, which means while it remains in stock, it will be  reduced weekly.

Try Grege Avenue 991 from the Classic Colors Collection from Benjamin Moore.  Before paint, we spent under $400.  Those $1,000 television shows got nothin’ on me!

Blue Bargains

No need to feel blue.  The stimulus package is near passage.  Bargains abound; would you believe you can update your bedroom and spend less than $120?  Throw in a can of paint (try Sherwin Williams Upward SW6239) and you can begin to rest easy, whatever the economic future holds.

Begin to create this blue-ribbon bedroom by picking up the Chowpatty Print Limited Edition Print from CB2.  It would be great over the bed, with or without a headboard. Get it fast.  It is only $49.95 from $179.

Throw on the Plaza Bedding from Crate & Barrel in Azure, now $39.95 from $139.

Late night reading requires light, so you had better grab the Metro Flared Mini Pendant from Bellacore.  Only $17.95 from $50.

You have enough saved to buy a throw pillow or two.   The Indigo Stripe Pillow from Crate & Barrel is a measly $4.95.  It was still cute at 26.95.

The Annual Target Home Design Event. Image from Target.com

Because I have been talking so much about Target lately I must mention that The Home Design Event is 50% off. Better hurry if you want something because it is getting very picked over. I really liked this year’s Design Event. The mix of styles was current and yet still broad. And as always, spot on the current trends. Did you notice in the photo above the Branch Side Table?  It is now only $45.

Nirobi Settee Image from Pier 1

Our deep discount today comes from Pier 1. The Nirobi Settee is 60% off, marked down from $249 to $99. Get this great deal now, while the weather is still cold. It would look great positioned in a large foyer with the above mentioned Branch table next and a big bold banana leaf wallpaper behind.

Hollyhock Sconce Image from ZGallerie

Our under $10 item comes from ZGallerie. You have to call the 800 number to get it, but for $9.89 it is worth the effort. The Hollyhock Sconce holds three tealights. Four of these above our Settee in our Fantasy Foyer fantasized above would be smashing.

Today our bargains are all rugs.  When the weather is below freezing, the last thing you want is to wake up and put your feet on a cold hard floor.

This wool rug looks exactly like the tie my friend Wes was wearing this morning at our business meeting.  The colors are so untrendy and friendly.  The Momeni Chambord Collection Gold Wool Rug in the 5.6 x 8.6 size is $700.  It was originally $1800 and is available at Smart Bargains.

Much more graphic, I love this rug from Rugs Direct.  From Surya Closeouts Contemporary Collection, this rug is only $440 for the huge 8 x 11 size from $1300.  It is listed as below cost.

From World Market comes this cute natural fiber rug.  The Petal Print Jute Boucle Rug is only $37.  Wouldn’t it be perfect in a breakfast area under a small iron table?  I can see this one sitting on terracotta tiles.

Today’s specials:

At LaDifference, the best store in Richmond: Lola Pendant $39.99 from $52.  I think this is a value at either price.

Flor carpet tiles are great, but can be pricey, so it is good to get them on sale.  I love the Lane Change Stripe, even if the colors are “so last year.” $4.99 each.

And for our under ten bucks item, the Flower Coat Hook from Arhaus is so cute.  Hang it low on the side of the coat closet so the littlest ones learn a good habit.   Only $8.

Introducing “The Rear Endcap”

I had an idea for a new category for Design Strategies.  Inspired by the back endcaps of each section at Target–you know, where all the stuff is with the red stickers–I thought I would highlight some super cheap deals available online.  I have a category called Best of Sunday Circulars, but I quickly ran out of steam writing for it.  Every week the newspaper ads were basically the same, so it got boring to write and I am sure, boring to read.  Hopefully, since the web is so endless, this category should have staying power.

This week:

Edie Planters. Image from CB2

Edie Planters at CB2 are only $2.95.  I love their retro vibe.  Everyone needs a REAL plant in their space.

Emerson Chair Image from Pottery Barn

The Emerson Sidechair at Pottery Barn is deeply discounted.  $59.99 from $249.99!  Gray is still up and coming, and the timeless design makes this a no brainer.  Pick up four for around a small white table or one for a foyer.

Everyone blogs about the Astrid Chair from Anthropologie.  The sale is on the Libuelle upholstery, which, being black and white, is one of the more versatile.  Marked down to $749.94 from $1498.

All quantites are limited so hurry!
